Everton Preview

Last updated : 28 November 2003 By Mark Heys
Bolton Wanderers will be hoping their recent good run continues this weekend as they welcome Everton to the Reebok Stadium in what is the first of two back to back North West derby games for the Wanderers in the space of a week.

David Moyes is one of the brightest young managers in this league and has certainly got Everton rejuvenated again but a mixed run of form lately, which has seen them lose to Chelsea and Blackburn and pick up a win last week against Wolves will certainly make Saturday's clash against the Wanderers an interesting one especially since the Toffees recent run on their travels is poor and that Wanderers have won just once at home all season with the majority of games ending in draws.

Wanderers hope to include Youri Djorkaeff once again after injury but they will be missing defender Florent Laville (knee) through injury, however fellow defender Emerson Thome who has missed the last three weeks with a hamstring injury hopes to be fit enough to play. Delroy Facey has returned from a loan spell at Burnley and will be competing with Mario Jardel and Henrik Pedersen for a place on the bench. Former Everton star Gareth Farrelly will not be involved as he is out of favour and seemingly looks set for a move to Bradford City.

Everton could welcome back midfielders Lee Carsley and Scot Gemmill into first team contention after the duo came through the clubs midweek reserve team win over Wolves. Gary Naysmith also returns following injury and will compete with David Unsworth for a place in the starting line up. Duncan Ferguson may also be able to stake a claim for the Bolton game having patched up his differences with manager David Moyes after a recent bust up. Former Wanderers captain Alan Stubbs may also get a place for the Merseysiders against the club where he started his career.
