Last seasons beaten finalists Bolton Wanderers make their first trip to Yeovil Town tommorow evening in the Second round of the Carling Cup.
The game against the Glovers will be shown live on SKY television and is sure to be a tough test for the in form Wanderers as they face a Yeovil team who is on the back of an excellent 6-1 victory over Oxford United at the weekend.
Bolton last met Yeovil back in January 2001 in an FA Cup tie at the Reebok Stadium were a late goal by substitute Michael Ricketts was enough to send the Trotters through to the next round in a 2-1 win.
That day the Somerset club had more than matched the Wanderers in every department and since then they have acheived league status finishing a respectable eighth position last season therefore it is no surprise to see them doing well in the Coca Cola League two table this term sitting just behind the current leaders Scunthorpe United.
Wanderers boss Sam Allardyce is expected to make changes for the trip to the South West with the on-loan Derby County goalkeeper Andy Oakes expected to come in for his debut in place of Jussi Jaaskelainen.
Julio Cesar, Anthony Barness and Euro 2004 winner Stelios Giannakopoulos are all in line for first team recalls whilst their could also be first starts for the experienced duo of Les Ferdinand and Fernando Hierro, both of whom have been limited to substitute appearances thus far.
Bolton trio Florent Laville, Ricardo Vaz-Te and Khalilou Fadiga are still not fully fit following long term lay offs and are unlikely to be risked for the trip.
Glovers manager Gary Johnson will once again be without injured trio Scott Guyett (knee), Adam Lockwood (knee) and Andy Lindegaard (ankle) although there is better news concerning the fitness of attacking midfielder Gavin Williams after he missed the weekend game with Oxford.
Former Fulham striker Andrejs Stolcers is expected to keep his place in the team following the two goal showing by the Latvian international at the weekend. He is expected to partner the one time Everton attacker Phil Jevons who also managed to get on the scoresheet against the U's.
Cup games are never easy and Yeovil will certainly have their tails up following their recent success in the league. Bolton know all too well what it is like to be an underdog to a Premiership club following years of cup giantkilling acts and will be the first to know that there is no room for complacency in games such as these.
Two years ago Lancashire rivals Bury dumped the Trotters out of the competition at the first hurdle so whatever team Sam Allardyce puts out will know that they will have a fight on their hands against a very compact and up and coming Yeovil side.
