Swedish U21 international defender Benjamin Kibede is set for a trial with Bolton Wanderers after the player's agent Johan Stromberg confirmed that there had been contact with the Trotters about the possibility of signing the AIK Solna player.
Ethiopian born Kibede has been a regular name on the teamsheet since joining the Stockholm based club in 1999 from Hammarby and has made 14 appearances so far this season for AIK who have former Liverpool player Richard Money on their coaching staff. However his contract has now expired and his agent is awaiting developments on the continent before starting to negotiate fresh terms with AIK.
Stromberg claimed he is awaiting an answer from Wanderers as to the possibility of taking the 22-year old centre half on trial and if successful hopes to bring the player to England for a number of training sessions.
"We have close contacts with Bolton, However, we have not got a definitive answer from them yet.".
If signed Kibede will link up with fellow countrymen Ndiwa Lord-Kangana and Duong Thach who are both on the books of Bolton Wanderers but have yet to make their first team bow.
