With Jussi Jaaskelainen's future at Bolton in doubt as he is yet to sign a new deal with the club, Al-Habsi is aware that he could be handed a chance to impress between now and the campaign's close, perhaps in the Uefa Cup.
"It's not up to me as the team manager is the one who decides when I shall play," he told Football Asia.
"However, the training load has increased and they are preparing me very well. I have followed the team since I arrived in England and I attended all the matches as the coach wants me to get accustomed to the team.
"There is a possibility that I might play against Marseille in the Uefa Cup but even if I didn't play I will wait for the proper time because I don't feel that I need to rush in the squad quickly as I want to concentrate on the training."
"There will be a big pressure on me as all the fans follow the league closely here but I would ask the Bolton fans not to judge me too hastily," he continued.
"When I arrived here, they wanted to prepare me very well in order to get me up to fitness because I wasn't ready to play. Therefore the coach asked them to prepare me and I hope that everything will be good.
"I would like to thank everyone who supported me and helped me in the new step that I made and I don’t want the fans to be worried if I don't make an immediate impact because it will not be an easy road."
