Bolton Wanderers manager Sam Allardyce has been fined £1,500 and warned about his future conduct by the Football Association following comments directed at referee Mike Riley during the Carling Cup Final defeat to Middlesbrough in February.
Allardyce was unhappy at some of Riley's decisions during the match at the Millennium Stadium none more so than the penalty taken by Boro's on-loan Boudwijn Zenden in which the Dutchman appeared to touch the ball twice when putting the North East club two goals up.
The FA decided on the outcome at a hearing today and feel that a fine is the best line of punishment for the Wanderers boss who has been lucky to escape a touchline ban for the start of next season.
A statement during the hearing was made which read "The case against Sam Allardyce was proven following his comments regarding Carling Cup final referee Mike Riley. The Bolton Wanderers manager was warned as to his future conduct and fined £1,500."
Yorkshire official Riley went on to be a refereeing representative for England at this summers European Championships in Portugal but his actions still anger those involved with Bolton Wanderers Football Club.
