Allardyce said, "We would like to get some players in, depending on players' availability, the quality of those players and how much they might cost."
"There are a lot of anomalies that we have to get through to secure that amount of players.
"The most difficult part is to find a player of the quality that can make an impact.
"We have to go to all the other Premiership clubs and find out whether there is anything available first because that is the only area you are going to find Premiership experience.
"Otherwise we will have to turn to Europe as we have done with mixed success previously. Some have worked and some have been extremely disappointing.
"In the past Florent Laville has kept us up, Youri Djorkaeff kept us up and Vincent Candela made a massive contribution last year.
"But then you can point to players like Salva Ballesta and Javi Moreno who weren't able to make a contribution in a short space of time.
"It is a dangerous market to go in but sadly we will have to due to the fact it is an Africans Nation Cup year.
"If it wasn't we we would not need anyone unless someone became available like a Roy Keane popped up, someone you could tell your chairman you had to try to get.
"I need to address signing players, I have not had any luck as yet but I am working hard on it."
