Ben-Haim has formed a useful central defensive partnership with Bruno N'Gotty in recent matches and scored his first goal for Bolton in their 3-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday.
Allardyce says that the former Maccabi Tel Aviv player has grabbed his opportunity with both hands having had to wait patiently to displace either N'Gotty or Radhi Jaidi, who was on the bench against Spurs.
"It hasn't been easy for Tal Ben Haim since we signed him from Maccabi Tel Aviv at the start of the season. I'm sure he expected to make the breakthrough sooner. He is practically a god back home - he is national captain at just 22 and is treated like a rock star.
"He has had to show a lot of patience here but once he got his chance he took it with both hands.
"I think he is going to be a very good player for us over the next few years.
