The Wanderer's boss feels the loan signing has been influential in the clubs recent run of good results and would like to bring him to the Reebok on a permanent deal in the summer.
"I would hope we'd be in a position to pursue it because, if we are, it will mean we will be in the Premiership next season," he told the Bolton Evening News.
"We've spoken to Lyon, just tentatively. Obviously there are players they don't want but it will be down to valuations and packages.
"I think the lad likes it here and, if that's the case and we stay in the Premiership, we will try to make it permanent.
"From my point of view, he's been the catalyst for the turn-around of our season."
