Allardyce said: "He knows the Premiership, obviously, he knew he would have to catch up with the pace and the strength of it, which he is.
"He feels as fit as he can be now, so his contribution is getting greater and greater.
"Once he got a bit more room than he did in the first half, he started to expose the Newcastle defence time after time.
"All we want him to do is continue to do that and hopefully put one or two in the back of the net.
"But if he is not and we are still winning, that does not particularly matter.
"It probably does for him, but it does not for the rest of us."
