Besiktas Target Jardel/Hassan Swap

Last updated : 02 January 2004 By Mark Heys
Turkish outfit Besiktas have targeted Bolton Wanderers striker Mario Jardel and will offer Egyptian midfielder Ahmed Hassan in exchange to take the Brazilian player back to Turkish football.

Bolton manager Sam Allardyce had asked his Besiktas counterpart Mircea Lucescu to exchange Jardel plus 500,000 euros in a bid to land the highly rated Hassan.

Jardel is said to want to end his unhappy spell in England and challenge for European honours and the Turkish club will be a good place for him as they can offer a place in the UEFA cup and he will be working once again with his former manager Mircea Lucescu whom he knows from his year at Galatasary.

Hassan on the other hand would welcome the chance of first team football again. He hasn't featured regularly this season making few appearances from the substitutes bench and would welcome a move to the English Premiership where it seems he has been tracked by manager Sam Allardyce for some time.

It is thought that the Turkish club are waiting for a response from Wanderers and it is expected that if the proposal is agreed then the two clubs chairman Bolton's Phil Gartside and his counterpart in Turkey Serdar Bilgili will start to negotiate the terms.
