He told the People: "It would be a huge honour to even make a shortlist to be interviewed. It's the biggest accolade you could bestow on any English manager.
"To get that chance would be a wonderful achievement. But I'm not kidding myself - I would have to be doing very well to get an opportunity like that.
"When you set out in your career as a player you want to play at the highest level and the same goes for management.
"So, if someone recognises what I have done at Bolton as a part of what they would like me to do at their place, then you have to consider it - it's that simple."
Meanwhile, Sam Allardyce says Jay-Jay Okocha and Hidetoshi Nakata could be on their way out of Bolton at the end of the season unless things change dramatically.
"Jay-Jay was out injured and it looks like he might leave for Qatar at the end of the season," he declared.
Allardyce also confirmed that Hidetoshi Nakata will not be making a permanent switch when his loan contract expires in the summer.
"His form has not been as good as he or we expected," he added.
