Bolton Wanderers boss Sam Allardyce admits he had a chuckle to himself after fans started comparing him to Jose Mourinho during Thursday night's UEFA Cup win against Lokomotiv Plovdiv.
The 3,000-strong Bolton army acclaimed Thursday's 2-1 UEFA Cup victory over Bulgarians Lokomotiv Plovdiv, which gave them a 4-2 aggregate win, by declaring they would never swap Big Sam for the Chelsea boss.
They chanted "Who needs Mourinho? We've got Sam Allardyce?" to the delight of the Wanderers manager.
Allardyce grinned: "That gave me the biggest laugh I've had in a long time.
"I think that sort of thing shows what an incredibly tight, family atmosphere there is at this club.
"We've got a terrific bunch of dedicated supporters who really associate closely with the team.
"I was as pleased for the fans as for myself and the players.
"The fans know just how much hard work, sweat and passion has gone into taking the club this far.
"Less than two decades ago, we were playing the likes of Darlington and Halifax every week.
"Now we're rubbing shoulders in Europe with the likes of Marseille, Lazio and Roma."
