Bolton Wanderers boss Sam Allardyce admits he feels let down by Igor Tudor after the defender turned down a Premiership move last month.
Allardyce admitted it had been a disappointment not to bring in the giant Croatian defender, Igor Tudor, who joined Sienna from Juventus after Wanderers had chased him all summer.
"It fell down probably because someone offered him money," he added.
"Sadly, that has been the case for us most of the summer but it is one we have to accept.
"It is very frustrating and disappointing when you miss out on players like Tudor and Bernard to clubs who can pay more but it is the way of life and you have to accept it.
"They were players who would make us better than we are."
Missing out on Tudor and Bernard left Wanderers light in the defensive department but Allardyce was philosophical as he assessed his squad strength.
"The deadline has gone so now is the time to get the best out of what we've got," he said.
"Only time will tell if we've got the numbers to get us through all our games until next January."
