The Cameroon international was rumoured to be on the wanted list of both Charlton Athletic and the Wanderers earlier on this month after his club recruited fellow left back Stefan Blank during the transfer window.
Tchato 29, had previously spent time on trial with Bolton's Premiership rivals Birmingham City two seasons ago whilst on the books of French club Montpellier.
