Bolton are reportedly weighing up an offer for midfielder Spann, who is a free agent and can join the club outside the transfer window.
Wanderers are also planning a swoop for January target Abdoulaye Meite. Bolton boss Sam Allardyce has confirmed that he will be looking to land Meite in the summer market.
"When the season is finished - if he is available - I would like him as long as the price is right," said Allardyce.
"He doesn't seem to playing as much now as when we first wanted him a couple of years ago.
"I think he used what we offered him to up the ante at Marseille and you can't blame him for that."
