Bolton are currently locked in a four way battle to sign the out of favour Liverpool defender Stephane Henchoz.
The Wanderers confirmed their interest in the Swiss international last week but they will face competition from Premiership rivals Southampton as well as the Old Firm pair Celtic and Rangers.
Sam Allardyce fears that the overall financial package may scupper any attempt to bring Henchoz to the Reebok Stadium but the player himself is still awaiting the outcome of discussions before making his next move.
"I still don't know which club I'm going to join. My agent is still speaking with the various clubs and it all depends how those negotiations go."
The former Blackburn Rovers star is said to be keen on keeping his family in the North West area as his wife has just had a baby but Ruud Gullit's Feyernoord could also be an alternative option.
