Match Preview
Bolton Wanderers will hope to build on their great 2-1 away win at Stoke City last weekend and defeat troubled Portsmouth at the Reebok Stadium on Saturday.
Portsmouth will gain some confidence in the knowledge that they have won 21 of their 24 points this season against sides in the bottom eight in the Premier League table, but a run of just one win from their last eight league matches has increased the misery suffered by the fans already this term.
Bolton's form of late hasn't been much better, with their victory over Stoke last weekend ending a run of four successive league defeats.
The Trotters will be buoyed by the fact that they won their meeting with Pompey earlier this term 3-2, with Gary Cahill netting a last minute winner, but this came under the tenure of Gary Megson.
Interestingly, Bolton have scored an average of 0.71 goals a game under their current boss Owen Coyle, compared to 1.44 a game when Megson was in charge of the side earlier this term.
One goalscorer in the last league meeting between these two sides was Matt Taylor, who has had a rich vein of goalscoring form in matches between Portsmouth and Bolton - for both teams.
The midfielder has found the net four times in his last six appearances in this fixture.
Portsmouth will be missing long-term absentees Danny Webber and Hermann Hreidarsson, but could welcome back both Nadir Belhadj and Tal Ben Haim, who will be looking to force their way back into the side before the end of the season.
