The record-breaking Mexican striker has struggled to secure a regular first team place, since arriving at the Reebok last August, and his frustration has led to speculation that he could be on his way in the summer.
But Sam Allardyce says he will still have a role to play next season.
"It isn't just about the Premiership," the manager said. "He's taken us to where we wanted to get to in the UEFA Cup and he's picked up a lot of experience, which will stand him in good stead.
"He's taken everything on board, he's a fantastic guy and a great human being.
"He's done all the work we've asked of him and he'll certainly know what the demands will be on him next season, even before he starts."
"It's hard enough to come in and make it in the Premiership," the manager added. "But the hardest place to be successful is on the front line.
"Stelios thought it was going to be a breeze but it wasn't and Crespo thought the same when he went to Chelsea.
"But it's not just about standing up there and sxcoring. There's more to it than that.
"Present Jared with a chance and he'll score but he struggles with the physical aspect and it doesn't get him up there enough in those positions. Not in the Premiership. It's something he could learn over a period of time but at 31 -32 it's hard to learn something new."
