Bolton Wanderers manager Sam Allardyce moved quickly to explain why goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen was left out of the Trotters 1-1 draw with West Bromwich Albion.
The Finnish international was a surprise omission from the Wanderers starting line up and this sparked off fresh speculation in the crowd that the 29-year old was on his way out of the club.
Allardyce has since cleared up the confusion and stated that Jaaskelainen was looking a little jaded in recent weeks, hence the reason to include veteran goalkeeper Kevin Poole in Bolton's Premiership line up for the first time since April 2002.
"I was looking at the whole squad as usual and Jussi has missed only one game in 20 months. I felt he looked a little fatigued and I took him out because I felt I needed to give him a complete break and let him have a bit of time with his family and to get himself back together." Allardyce said
