Burnley boss Brian Laws have been boosted after winger Ross Wallace was passed fit for the visit of Bolton in the third round of the Carling Cup.

The former Preston man sustained a hamstring injury during Saturday's goalless draw at Crystal Palace but will be available to face the Trotters.

The Clarets remain without midfielder Chris McCann as he recovers from a long-term knee injury but Laws has no other major concerns for the derby with Owen Coyle's side.

Laws took heart from the draw at Palace and is confident they are heading in the right direction. He said: "I was honoured to be there to see it because that was as good a performance as I've seen."

Rodrigo Moreno is set to make his debut for Bolton. As in the previous round, Wanderers boss Owen Coyle will ring the changes against his old club and has confirmed that Moreno, Marcos Alonso, Mark Davies, Matthew Taylor and former Clarets forward Robbie Blake will all play.

Tamir Cohen, who missed Saturday's 1-1 draw at Aston Villa because he was observing the Jewish holy day Yom Kippur, is available again.

Kevin Davies, Jussi Jaaskelainen and Gary Cahill are suspended, while Andy O'Brien, Joey O'Brien, Ricardo Gardner, Jlloyd Samuel and Sean Davis have all been nursing injuries.

Bolton boss Owen Coyle claims he would never have left Burnley last season if his decision had been governed purely by emotion. Coyle, who got the Clarets promoted to the Barclays Premier League in 2009, departed Turf Moor in January to take over at Wanderers.

The 44-year-old makes his first return to the stadium when the two sides meet in the Carling Cup third round, and Coyle insists he would still be in charge at Burnley if he had let his heart rule over his head.

"If it was just down to emotion, and emotion alone, I would never have left Burnley," Coyle said.

"But I had to look at the bigger picture and I made a footballing decision because of the infrastructure and everything else at Bolton.

"I'd been here as a player and I knew everything that goes with that as well, and that was how it was made. Was it emotional leaving? Absolutely. Will it be emotional? Of course it will. I wouldn't be evasive or try to get away from that."
