Bolton Wanderers captain Jay-Jay Okocha has warned recent signing Mario Jardel to expect the Premiership to be the toughest test of his career so far and has told the Brazilian the action is more competetive to what he is used to.
Former Sporting Libson and FC Porto ace Jardel has scored prolifically wherever he has been but to date has only made one short substitute appearance for his new club with Bolton manager Sam Allardyce keen to get the 29-year old back to full fitness and scoring goals but Okocha, who himself took time to settle in at the club last year, warns the Premiership is more physical.
"No matter how much we try to tell him that the Premiership is really hard, I think he will have to experience that for himself" said the Bolton captain.
"It is not only the mentality and attitude of the players approach to the game, They are very competetive and give you no space" he added
Jardel has been instructed to lose weight and is now on a three times per day training regime set to him by the clubs backroom staff and he will be working closely with the fitness coaches to prepare him for the times ahead.
