"I've had all the lads from Liverpool on the phone saying what a great signing he'll prove to be for us.
"If he'd have been playing, I'm sure we would have won - all he needs is a sniff and, bang, it would have been in the back of the net and we'd have been celebrating.
"Hopefully he'll give us that little bit of what's been lacking - a goalscorer.
"I can't wait to play in the same team as him.
"I've had a good chat with Nicolas and he's joining in with the banter.
"He tends to hang around with the French lads, which is a bit worrying. He's quiet but I'm sure he'll do all his talking on the pitch."
Meanwhile, Bolton will play Coca-Cola League Two high-flyers, Walsall, in the second round of the Carling Cup.
