Because of injuries the Bolton boss admitted that he has had to 'throw together' a back four and he's been delighted with the outcome.
"I think three games ago, with Emerson going down injured, Laville out injured, it was looking desperate defensively," explained Allardyce.
"We've thrown together the back four, who have produced three results. We've converted two of the three into wins and a draw.
"We've not been at our best, but we've won and I'm delighted.
"We knocked the stuffing out of them. To be fair we've done our job, we've got our goals then we've got eight or nine players behind the ball.
"Any match away from home is difficult. We felt that if we don't give an early opportunity then we will score.
"When our first opportunity came, we put it in the back of the next. After the second we felt it was game over."
