Wanderers slipped to the bottom of the Barclays Premier League with a home defeat - their 12th of the season - against Aston Villa at the weekend. Results since last April have been poor and although Coyle is, publicly at least, being put under no pressure by the board he accepts the run the club are on is weakening his position.
He told the Bolton News: "I have been long enough in the game to know it's a results business, regardless of what I put in place in the football club and the building bricks for longevity and to move forward. Whatever it is, it is. I have never ran from a fight in my life but if someone felt there was a better solution for the football club, I have no problem with that."
After Saturday's defeat chairman Phil Gartside stressed Coyle had his full support.
"Owen is our man. We are working to a longer term here," he said.
"He is committed to it and we are committed to the job in hand. Owen is a big part of that project."
Coyle criticised some of his players for their attitude against Villa, unimpressed by the way they only appeared to come to life once they were 2-0 down.
"All I want is sheer passion, energy and desire but it's not good enough to be showing that at two down in a home game we should be winning," he added.
"That for me is galling and a sad indictment of one or two. If I had the right personnel I would change it, but I don't have that luxury."
