Coyle's side are five points clear of third-bottom Hull, who beat Fulham but still have a significantly inferior goal difference.
With West Ham in freefall and only six matches remaining, it would appear unlikely Bolton will be dragged back into the mire Coyle pulled them out of following his arrival from Burnley.
While the Scot displays no sign of nerves, he will remain totally focused until he knows the task has been completed successfully.
"When I came into the job we were in the bottom three," he said. "We managed to win games, take points and come out of that, but until you are mathematically safe everyone is in there.
"Hull picked up a big result yesterday so we are still in a dangerous area and there is a lot to play for."
Providing Bolton do survive, Coyle can then accelerate the work of rebuilding a squad so they are capable of playing in a more attractive manner than they are used to.
The process has already begun with the introducing of Vladimir Weiss and Jack Wilshere on loan.
There is little chance of Wilshere in particular signing on a permanent basis, but the 18-year-old Arsenal prodigy is revelling in the responsibility Coyle has handed him.
"Wilshere was outstanding yesterday," said the Scot. "The great thing was that he did it against Manchester United.
"He showed such composure on the ball and his range of passing is excellent.
"England are very fortunate to have a player of that quality at 18 years of age.
"He continues to get better and I have no doubt that in time he will play for Arsenal and be an England international."
