Recently released Espanyol star Cruyff, the son of the Dutch legend Johan is said to be ready to link up with the Trotters next month in a bid to prove to Bolton manager Sam Allardyce that he can still cope with the rigours of the English top flight.
The 30 year old made a total of 34 league appearances during a four year stint at United, most of which came from the substitutes bench but a move to Deportivo Alaves in 2000 allowed the former Barcelona youth player a chance to get his career back on track.
Meanwhile the Sunday Mirror claims Bolton have targeted Cruyff's former United team mate Nicky Butt in a bid to secure European Football next season. The England midfielder has fallen out of favour in the past year with Sir Alex Ferguson due to the arrivals of Klebersen, Eric Djemba-Djemba, Cristiano Ronaldo and the emergence of Darren Fletcher from the reserves. A loan move for Butt could be possible but I suspect the wage demands of the 30-year old would be quite high.
