The midfielder was released recently by Valencia and as a free agent can move outside of the transfer window.
Meanwhile, Bolton Wanderers skipper Kevin Nolan is urging the board to hand manager Sam Allardyce significant transfer funds for the summer market.
"We just think the gaffer deserves to be given something to play with and, we hope, that this will keep him here for another couple of years," the midfielder told the Daily Mail.
"We're not talking about £5million, £6m or £7m players or for the chairman to come up with £40m or £50m, like Freddy Shepherd has at Newcastle."
Allardyce was restricted to two free-transfer signings last month, and Nolan added: "What we've achieved in the last year has been phenomenal, and what we wanted to see was players good enough to add to that and bring in greater quality."
