Crystal Palace goalkeeper Matt Clarke looks set to retire from the game after failing to recover from a knee injury which has plagued him for the majority of his time at Selhurst Park.
The 29-year old former Bolton Wanderers loanee, who was instrumental in the Trotters promotion to the Premiership just over two years ago following his move from Bradford City sadly looks as if he may have to hang up the gloves for good despite an attempted comeback earlier on this season.
Palace boss Steve Kember confirmed the former Sheffield Wednesday and Rotherham United keeper will see a specialist but the signs do not look promising
"He's going to see a specialist this week but it's looking increasingly likely that he will have to retire, which is a blow,"
Clarke played 11 games for Wanderers during 2000-2001 including an appearance in the 2001 Play Off Final when Wanderers defeated local rivals Preston North End 3-0 to secure promotion to the Premiership. During his spell in the Premiership with Bradford City many predicted he should have been considered for England honours. Remembered as an excellent goalkeeper who if the worst happens will be sadly missed from the game.
