Bolton Wanderers are close to signing Southampton midfielder Fabrice Fernandes on free transfer according to reports in the media.
Allardyce has expressed his desire to bring in as many new faces as possible before the transfer window shuts on August 31.
The player's agent Willie McKay revealed that a deal had been agreed between both parties and that the player was undergoing a medical.
"Fabrice is up in Bolton currently undergoing a medical," McKay told skysports.com.
"Hopefully, all that goes well and he can sign.
"Everything has been agreed between Fabrice and Bolton and he is keen to get back playing in The Premiership."
Meanwhile, Bolton youngster Scott Jamieson has been named in the Australian Under-17 squad, which takes part in next month's FIFA U-17 World Championship in Peru.
The 16 year old played in Wanderers 10-0 thrashing of Rushden United in the first pre-season friendly of the summer.
