Bolton manager Sam Allardyce has moved to sign Fabrice Fernandes who is available on a free transfer from Southampton.
The player's agent Willie McKay revealed Bolton were one of a number of clubs interested in signing Fernandes and that the player was determined to play at the highest level.
"I have spoken to a few clubs including Bolton about Fabrice," McKay told skysports.com
"Fabrice is a very good player and he would be a good addition for any squad in The Premiership.
"He is available on a free transfer and he has an agreement with Rupert Lowe to let him leave and Harry Redknapp will not stand in his way if he moves on.
"Fabrice is keen to be playing in The Premiership and I have been speaking to Sam Allardyce and he is interested in him."
Meanwhile, Bolton have been linked with another Japanese international in the form of Shinji Ono.
According to reports in Holland, Bolton boss Sam Allardyce has already been in contact and discussions with all parties have taken place over a move to the Reebok Stadium.
