The game was called off when it was discovered large areas of the Reebok Stadium pitch remained frozen solid.
Boss Allardyce fumed: "It is disappointing the game has had to be called off.
"Trying to fit the rearranged date into our fixture list is going to be very difficult if we do well in the UEFA Cup and the FA Cup in the New Year.
"We are in really good form in the Premiership and, with one defeat in eight, we were really up for the game.
"We had a full squad available and we wanted to take advantage of Middlesbrough's injuries and their lack of confidence.
"It throws our strategic planning out of the window.
"The only good thing to come out of this is that we might be a little fresher going into the match against Manchester United on Saturday - and the match at home to Liverpool on Monday."
