Former Wimbledon and Manchester United forward Terry Gibson has joined Bolton Wanderers ever expanding backroom team as a European Scout.

The 1988 FA Cup winner will combine his role on the Northern Ireland coaching staff with a part time position at Bolton were he will aim to pick out the best players from the south of Spain.

Marbella based Gibson moved into coaching with the likes of Barnet and Wycombe Wanderers when ending his playing career nine years ago. He had heard on the grapevine that Sam Allardyce needed additional backroom staff and was only happy to help out his former Coventry team mate.

"I heard on the grapevine Sam was looking for ex-players to do some scouting and this gives me a chance to further my education" he told the Bolton Evening News

"The Spanish clubs know that I am about, but instead of viewing me with suspicion they have made me feel very welcome. This is very forward thinking by Sam" he added
