Greece booked their place in the 2004 European Championship Final thanks to a last gasp goal in extra time from the giant AS Roma defender Traianos Dellas in a 1-0 win over a strong Czech Republic side.
The Greeks will now face tournament hosts Portugal in Lisbon on Sunday to stage a re-run of the competitions opening game which saw the Hellas defeat the "home" country by a single goal to nil.
Bolton midfielder Stelios Giannakopoulos saw a piece of the action as he was a 71st minute substitute for Angelos Bassinas. The 30-year old could have won it himself with a header in extra time also having a half chance soon after but the honour of the winning goal was credited to the former Sheffield United man Dellas who took the Greeks to their first ever major final.
Former Bolton trialist Rene Bolf was the unlucky Czech Republic player who made the mistake to allow Dellas to score the winner, prior to this he was absolutely faultless.
Super sub Giannakopoulos was absolutely delighted to reach the final and told reporters on ITV1 after the game that he felt as if he was in a dreamworld but nevertheless stressed the need to recouperate in time for the weekend final.
"It's great it's just unbelievable. It's like we are sleeping and don't want to wake up. It's a dream. We are living a dream. It's unbelievable. It's a terrific win, that's the beauty of football. It's a beautiful day for us, a black day for the Czechs." he said
