Bolton Wanderers have missed out on the signing of Liverpool defender Stephane Henchoz after the Swiss stopper opted for a move to the Scottish champions Celtic.
As expected, the former Blackburn Rovers player completed the formalities of his transfer to Parkhead earlier today and will move to Glasgow on an initial contract which will last until the end of the season.
Wanderers manager Sam Allardyce had hoped to add the veteran to his ranks but was left disappointed earlier in the week when it became apparent that the player had set his heart on a move north of the border.
It might not all be bad for Allardyce as reports this evening are suggesting that Roma defender Vincent Candela has flown into Manchester Airport with regards to a possible loan switch to Bolton.
The former French international missed training with the Italian giants this morning fuelling fresh speculation that the player was on his way out of the club.
