Bolton Wanderers striker Henrik Pedersen is confident that his two goal showing against Charlton Athletic on Saturday will have helped him secure a place in the side for the next few matches.
The Danish international struck a brace in the 4-1 win over the Londoners putting in a performance worthy of the result but despite the imminent arrival of Liverpool striker El-Hadji Diouf the Scandanavian feels that his weekend performance will have helped his claims for a place in the eleven.
'He is coming to fight for the same spot in the team as me in our 4-3-3 system, so it's another competitor besides Michael Bridges. That's the way it is in football, but with my performance against Charlton, I should hold my spot in the line-up in the next couple of matches." he said
Pedersen was quick to welcome the new attacking arrivals of Bridges and Les Ferdinand but also stated that the majority of the winning side against the Addicks consisted of players who where at the club last season - something which he believes played a huge part in the win.
"Everyone has been excited towards the start of the new season because a lot of new faces have come in. But the manager chose to start with nine from last season, We know each other's game, and that was the deciding factor on a day where we all hit perfect form. The result doesn't lie, and in fact we could have scored more goals.'
