Howey left Wanderers at the end of the 2003-2004 season after only three appearances, but is now looking to force his way back into English football with Brian Talbot's team.
The 33-year old has a vast amount of experience having played for Newcastle United, Manchester City, Leicester City and the Trotters over a 16 year playing career.
