The Icelandic full-back joined Wanderers from AZ Alkmaar in January for a fee of 3.5million.

Speaking of Bolton's recent game with Man City, Steinsson said, "It was a difficult game but we got loads of chances like we have in other games. We got a clean sheet that is also really important.

"We have to stay confident and keep on going. We need the fans with us. They can help us and we need to keep on going.

"Every point is important," he added. "We feel that we are going to do it. It doesn't matter how but we are going to do it.

"I've seen the quality in training and I just know that we are going to do it."

"I knew relegation was a possibility when I joined because the Premier League is a very tough league, but I had been following the club for many years and I just wanted to play for Bolton."
