The Croatian's loan from Nantes has now ended, although manager Owen Coyle would like to bring the player back if he can come to an agreement over the French club's £2million asking price.
Davies believes the 30-year-old has done enough to warrant a contract, having tried hard to impress Coyle who initially criticised his work-rate.
"He's taken the manager's information on board and is working harder, and his stats will back that up," said Davies.
"It's something he realises he has to add to his game if he wants to stay and he has done."
Klasnic's best work has been saved for inside the penalty area, scoring eight times in 12 Premier League starts, and Davies acknowledged his talent by adding: "Ivan's dangerous inside the box and always looks to turn and get a shot off. He's one of the best I've ever worked with at that. He's a goalscorer and a good lad to have in the changing room."
