Bolton boss Sam Allardyce has hit back at claims that Finnish international goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen is to leave the club in the January transfer window.
Jaaskelainen had been linked with a move to local rivals Manchester United earlier on in the week with assistant manager Phil Brown further increasing the speculation by insisting a fee of £7 million would be enough to tempt the 29-year old away from Lancashire but Allardyce says that the comments of his right hand man Brown have been misinterpreted.
"Jussi Jaaskelainen is a vital asset to Bolton Wanderers and to our continued progression. He is contracted to this football club until 2007. Phil Brown's comments were misinterpreted by certain sections of yesterday's media. Phil was merely stating Jussi's worth to this football club" Sam told reporters today
