Bolton skipper Jay-Jay Okocha has been named as the BBC African player of the year having beat off strong competition from the likes of Samuel Eto'o and Obafemi Martins.
Midfield wizard Okocha was a star of the 2004 African Nations Cup tournament after helping his country Nigeria achieve a respectable third placed position.
The 31-year old saw his Nigerian team mate Martins finish in third place whilst highly rated Cameroon striker Eto'o claimed the runners up spot.
