Leonard Deal Far From Complete Says Sam

Bolton Wanderers manager Sam Allardyce has confirmed that the club are no nearer to landing Belgian international defender Phillippe Leonard but confirmed that the player is the type he is looking for the replace the injured Florent Laville.

Preliminary negotiations have taken place this week with the players representatives and they are expected to resume at the end of the week and early into next week as the Bolton boss looks to strike up a deal with the former Monaco man.

"We have talked to his representatives but as yet we have not progressed from that. We'll have a further look at the end of the week and early next week" the Wanderers boss confirmed.

"I've seen enough for me to want to bring him here. But there is still a long way to go in sorting out the financial implications".

The player himself has told reporters he hopes to conclude a deal with Bolton soon otherwise he may have to be forced to look elswhere for a deal.

"Bolton have had enough time to form an opinion about me so I've told them I am waiting to hear" said Leonard.

"We've not reached any agreement. I was expected to turn up for more tests on Tuesday but I refused."
