Allardyce beleives that the 37-year old veteran Ferdinand is still capable of scoring goals at the top level as he showed when registering 12 Premiership goals in a struggling Leicester City side last season.
"Twelve goals in 28 games, and that was in a struggling side." Allardyce told the Bolton Evening News
The Bolton boss thinks that the experience of the bustling forward will prove to be an asset to the Wanderers first team squad and recalls the two goals that the ex-Spurs and Newcastle forward scored against the club last season whilst with the Foxes.
"When Les Ferdinand plays, he scores goals -- he scored two against us as I recall -- and he'll be a valuable squad member." Sam added
Whilst Ferdinand looks to be joining the Bolton ranks a move for the former Oldham Athletic and Sunderland player Chris Makin was quickly dismissed by Allardyce.
Reports yesterday claimed that the injury jinxed 31-year old would be on his way to the Reebok having left Ipswich Town earlier in the week but this was played down by the Trotters boss.
