"I would like to know what is happening. I can’t understand," said Meite. "But I don’t want to leave. Some people want to push me to the exit door, but I don’t know why.

"I am keen to stay and fight to play, and then we will see at the end of the season. Between me and the coach, there is obviously a misunderstanding.

"The coach has accused me of having been arrogant. We had a talk on Saturday and we sorted out things. He thought I wanted to leave. I told him I was fine at l’OM and I wanted to help the group."

Meanwhile, Bolton are also chasing Valencia defender Marco Caneira.

The Portugal international has declared he's ready to leave on-loan in January after failing to nail down a regular start under new coach Quique Flores this season.

Caneira's agent revealed he'd held talks with Manchester United about the stopper, while the News of the World says Bolton are also keen to bring the Portuguese to England.
