Bolton Wanderers' Kevin Nolan has admitted that he may be the man responsible for Jay-Jay Okocha's lack of showboating this season.
"Jay-Jay got fed up of me shouting at him when he did his tricks," admitted Nolan. "If he did start showboating all the time, he would have me to answer to.
"He has changed from when he first came over here, when he took a lot of chances and some paid off but some didn't.
"He's a fantastic crowd pleaser and the fans get disappointed if he doesn't pull off 17 tricks a game.
"When we are 3-0 up, he can do it in the final third but I won't let him do it in midfield.
"I think he has got fed up of me shouting at him and that's why he's stopped it.
"He has cut out the tricks. Now he plays the way the game is going.
"If he feels he can get away with a trick he does it, but he won't do them all the time."
Nolan also spoke of his dissapointment at starting on the bench for Wanderers first ever European encounter on Thursday.
"I'm not happy, but it's one of those things," said Nolan.
"I was disappointed not to start, particularly as it was our first European encounter, with the game at the Reebok Stadium, and with me coming from the youth set-up.
"But we've a big game on Sunday and the gaffer has a decision to make. He knows best at the end of the day.
"He did speak to us before the game and underlined the importance of that match and this one against Manchester City. He said he had one eye out for City after picking the team.
"Obviously, the lads who sat on the bench were not happy, so it was a case of hoping to get a chance to come on and doing the business.
"At least I managed to get 25 minutes under my belt, and in that time we turned the game around.
"It was a very enjoyable experience which has given me a boost for Sunday when I hope to be in the side and raring to go."
