Former Newcastle and Southampton left-back Olivier Bernard is still on trial at Bolton and Sam Allardyce will not be rushed into making a decision on the frenchman.
Allardyce does not have a recognised left-back as cover for first-choice Ricardo Gardner and has failed in attempts to sign Francesco Coco, Juanfran and Soitirios Kyrgiakos over the summer.
Bernard does not have to sign before the deadline as he is a free agent and officially out of work, so Bolton will take their time and assess him properly before making a move.
