Bolton's Kevin Nolan scored his seventh goal of the campaign in the defeat of Tottenham on Monday night to propel Bolton into third place.
The 23 year old Liverpool-born player makes sure, though, the people around him are reaping the benefits of his goals.
Rhys Powell, an 18-year-old member of Bolton's Academy set-up, is laughing all the way to the bank. The Welsh starlet has picked up a healthy £350 bonus with the likelihood of more to come.
Nolan said: "I pay my boot boy £50 a goal, so at the moment he is really looking forward to Christmas.
"He is a good lad and he makes sure my boots are clean. He is doing a fantastic job.
"By Christmas I will reward him by handing over the money as he deserves it."
Nolan also reckons Bolton could be playing in the Champions League next season if they keep up their early season form.
"Why not dream about playing in the Champions League," he said. "Why not give it a go and give it our best shot.
"European football is a big thing for the club and next year we want to be back competing there.
"That's a big factor for us and hopefully we can produce the right kind of form over the next 26 games in the Premiership.
"It would be good to do the business and go into the last game knowing we are looking forward to another European campaign, whether it be in the Champions League or UEFA Cup."
