Rumour Mill Frenzy

Following their successful attempt to avoid relegation and their comfortable placing in the mid table positions of the Premiership table the rumour mill has gone into overdrive during the weekend period to link Wanderers with a number of potential new recruits to stablise their side even more for next seasons campaign - whether these rumours have any foundation remains to be seen although manager Sam Allardyce has started to plan for next season as Rivaldo - currently in talks with the club, could be the first new arrival of the new season - even before the previous season is over.

One report claims that Bolton are lining up a Bosman swoop for Birmingham City midfielder Bryan Hughes after the former Wrexham player rejected fresh terms to stay at St Andrews. Both Wolverhampton Wanderers and Norwich City have also been linked to the 27-year old Liverpool-born player.

Lincoln City's giant defender Ben Futcher is also said to be a target of ourselves and Aston Villa. He is the son of former Manchester City player Paul Futcher and has previously played in the North West with Oldham Athletic before spells with Doncaster Rovers and Stalybridge Celtic took him out of league football for a while. He has scored a number of goals from the defence this season and is said to be ready to make the step up to a higher level.

The Sunday People claimed that Bolton had joined the race to sign Leicester City's Turkish international midfielder Muzzy Izzet who said he will leave the Foxes after eight seasons if they are relegated. A number of Premiership clubs want the former Chelsea trainee in their squad including Middlesbrough who have been linked heavily with the player for the past two years.

Bolton scout Bob Duffy was in attendance at Malaga's clash with Deportivo La Coruna at the weekend and reports suggest midfielder Miguel Angel and Josemi of Malaga where the targets along with Deportivo defender Cesar.

At the moment only Rivaldo has held talks over a prospective move to the Reebok Stadium, all the others are based on pure speculation and nothing more. It has been said that Rivaldo will hold more talks with Bolton this week having returned to Spain over the weekend to sell his house in Barcelona. Wanderers chairman Phil Gartside said negotiations where at a 50/50 point whilst manager Sam Allardyce expressed concern that another club could make an 11th hour smash and grab, however the players agent Peter Harrison said he is almost certain the player will put pen to paper on a deal with Bolton.
