Brown has already suggested that he is willing to extend his stay at the Reebok Stadium despite a hunger to go into full time management in the future and Allardyce, who signed a new improved five year contract at Bolton this week, hopes that the situation can be sorted out sooner rather than later.
"Phil still has two years left on his contract and we will try to sort the situation out when we get the opportunity. It is always very difficult to do this while the season is on. But I don't see it being a problem." he said
Allardyce feels that Brown is key component in his army of backroom staff and says that his work would not be as effective if he didn't have the services of the former Bolton captain.
"I am the leader of the team but without the team it dilutes my ability and my power to be successful,"
"Phil is the most important figure to begin with, being my right-hand man in what are many key areas. You've got to delegate down your jobs to key members of staff. It is a team effort behind the scenes and Phil is a big part of that team." he added
Brown first worked under Allardyce at Blackpool from 1994 to 1996 before moving back to Bolton as First Team Coach under previous manager Colin Todd. The pair linked up again upon Allardyce's appointment as Wanderers boss five years ago and have proved to be one of the most successful and underrated management teams in the top flight.
