Bolton manager Sam Allardyce has admitted that being linked with the England job is a 'great honour', with the Trotters boss top of the shortlist for the job when Sven Goran Eriksson leaves the post after next years World Cup.
Allardyce said, "If I do well again this season it might be a possibility but, at the moment, all I want to do is say that my best wishes are with Sven going into the World Cup."
Asked if he has England ambitions he said: "There is no doubt about that. Obviously, people just talking about the position is a great honour for me and, of course, if that is the case next summer and I've done as well this season as I did last, that might be a possibility."
"I've been very fortunate in the last few weeks, after losing Phil Brown, to be able to secure the services of Sammy Lee, who is very much a part of the England coaching team to take England to the World Cup next year, when I would hope they would do very well.
