The Trotters had a fine start to last term and used the platform as a springboard to claiming a place in the Uefa Cup.
"I think it is important to make sure the lads are 100 percent when we kick off on the 13th of August," Allardyce told Sky Sports News.
"We need to have as good a start this season as we had in the last season.
"We managed to total 18 points in the first ten games and that kept us in the top eight for most of the season and on that basis, we must try and repeat that."
